Review – Teekyuu

Think of 2 different shows.

They can be any two at all, but  preferably of different genres. They should be about 20 or 25 minutes each. Now, pick 4 characters at random. Turn them into high-school girls, inject a litre of redbull straight to their veins, and get them to form a tennis club. Shorten the prodcut to exactly 2 minutes and add a suitably ridiculous theme song. You are now watching Teekyuu.

Teekyuu is a wild cocktail of hilarity and insanity, and not for the faint of heart. You’ll probably love it or hate it within a matter of seconds.

The series is comprised of 12 seperate two-minute episodes and follows friends Yuri, Kanae, Nasuno and Marimo. It stands as a testament to how much content can be jammed into just two minutes as the dialogue basiacally never pasues. The gags are fast and funny, thanks to a set vibrant and ridiculous characters.  Not for one second does Teekyu take itself seriously – and this works very much to its advantage. I don’t know if Teekyuu is actually a parody of itself or if it’s just too wide-eyed on stimulants to care.

Check this out now. And good luck keeping up with the subs. You’ll be needing it!
